ANOTHER Lanete is headed to brighter horizons. Von Harry Lanete, the University of the Visayas? (UV) peppery point guard, is set to follow in his older brother?s footsteps

after he was selected by the five-time champions Harbour Centre Batang Pier during the Philippine BasketballLeague (PBL) draft last Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City. Lanete, who is set to complete his tenure with the seven-time champions UV Green Lancers this season, will be the second

Lanete to don the Harbour Centre jersey.

His older brother, Chico, made a name for himself with the Batang Pier, winning back-to-back Finals MVP honors before being

picked up by Purefoods in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). ?I?m very happy that I got picked by Harbour Centre, where my brother played for a very long time. I feel that after playing for UV in the Cesafi, I?m ready to play in the PBL and it has been a dream of mine for the longest time to play there. I?m quite confident but I still need to immerse myself there and practice with the team before anything else. I?m also happy since my brother will be there to give me advice as well,? said Lanete in an interview yesterday morning.

The Batang Pier suffered a debilitating coup of their roster after eight standouts were picked in the PBA.

Aside from Lanete, they also acquired 6-foot-7 center Erick Suguitan of ACSAT, La Salle?s Peejay Barua, Reynald Cui and Jessey Garcia.

Lanete is also excited for the chance to play against his younger brother Garvo, who is expected to suit up for the San Beda-manned Burger King. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
