The Don Bosco College (DBC) Greywolves banked on a strong endgame to capture their first win of the season, drubbing the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Wildcats, 83-71, in their seniors division game of the Cesafi basketball tournament yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

After playing lackadaisically for most of the game and falling behind by eight points at the start of the fourth period, the Greywolves suddenly found their focus and their range as they embarked on an 15-4 run to take a 71-67 lead.

Spearheading their comeback was their lethal backcourt tandem of Rodolfo Enterina and Celso Colegado, as they accounted for nine points in that searing run, steering Don Bosco back into the lead.

The Greywolves finished with a flurry as they punctuated their comeback with a 10-0 siege to turn a 73-71 lead into a 12-point rout.

Leading the charge was big man Christopher dela Rama, as he tallied 15 points while Colegado added 14 markers.

Paolo Lumapas also scored in double figures with 13 points while Enterina was masterful at the point, with nine points and eight assists.

DBC evened out their record at 1-1 while CIT fell to 1-2.

The CIT Wildkittens, on the other hand, proved to be steadier than their elder counterparts as they outlasted the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars, 107-101, in an exciting overtime match in the juniors division.

The game was played on even terms all throughout the match as both teams played in spurts.

However, the Wildkittens appeared to be headed for the win as they held a four-point lead, 87-83, with 16 seconds left.

But USJ-R fought back, trimming the lead to just two, 85-87, after two freebies from Allan delos Santos.

After CIT's Mark Tallo split his charities to push the Wildkittens to a three-point cushion, the Baby Jaguars forced overtime as Patrick Bayno sank a miraculous halfcourt heave at the regulation buzzer.

CIT, though, prevailed behind the prodigious play of Tallo, who started the overtime session with a three-point play.

He also found his teammates for crucial baskets en route to their second win in four games. USJ-R fell to 2-3.

In the curtain raiser, Don Bosco defeated the Cebu Eastern College Dragons, 80-75, to improve to 1-1 while handing their opponents their second loss in as many games.
