UST, Ateneo trample foes

LEADING Most Valuable Player (MVP) contender Jervy Cruz churned out a monster performance to power the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers to a 97-83 victory over the Adamson University (AdU) Falcons yesterday in the 71st UAAP men's basketball tournament at the PhilSports Arena.

Cruz wound up with a career-high 29 points, 15 rebounds and two blocked shots, leading the Tigers to their fourth win in eight outings.

In the other game, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) avenged its lone loss to Far Eastern University (FEU) after the Blue Eagles nipped the Tamaraws, 78-74.

The Eagles stayed on top of the standings with a 7-1 record, while the Tamaraws tasted their third loss in eight games.
