(Ynares Center, Antipolo City)
4:50 p.m. - Sta. Lucia vs. Ginebra
7:20 p.m. - Coca-Cola vs. Magnolia
Sister teams Magnolia Beverage Masters and the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings look to complete the Final Four cast as they try to finish off their respective foes in Game Two of the PBA Fiesta Cup best-of-five quarterfinal series on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The Kings play the Sta. Lucia Realtors in the first game, while the Beverage Masters square off with the Coca-Cola Tigers in the main game.
Twin victories by Magnolia and Ginebra will push them to the semis, joining automatic qualifiers Red Bull Barakos and Air21 Express.
Magnolia and Ginebra took the series-openers interestingly behind Lordy Tugade and Junthy Valenzuela, who once played alongside in the Red Bull squad.
Tugade scored 20 points and grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds to help the Beverage Masters beat the Tigers, 108-96, last Sunday.
Tugade was just one of the Beverage Masters who shone bright as Amal McCaskill (20 points), Mike Cortez (18), Dondon Hontiveros (13) and Danny Ildefonso (13) also wound up in double figures.
Valenzuela, on the other hand, struggled in the first three quarters but came through with big plays in the final quarter to lead the Kings to a come-from-behind 92-90 win over Sta. Lucia.
The Cebuano guard was held scoreless in the first 36 minutes of play but two three-pointers and a crucial offensive rebound in the payoff period helped the Kings seal the win.
Valenzuela’s endgame heroics preserved Mark Caguioa’s 30-point showing and Chris Alexander’s double-double game of 19 points and 15 rebounds. /Correspondent Calvin D. Cordova
