The Red Bull Barakos nipped the Sta. Lucia Realtors, 85-81, to clinch the last automatic semifinal berth of the PBA Fiesta Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Barakos, whose outright entry to the semis was stalled after they lost to the Talk N Text Phone Pals last Friday, 103-105, finished the elimination round with 11 wins and seven losses to seal their seventh straight conference semifinal appearance.
Since joining the league in 2000, Red Bull has secured 10 semifinal appearances in 11 conferences.
The other outright semis berth was taken by the Air21 Express, who topped the elimination with 12 wins and six defeats.
Leo Najorda was adjudged the Best Player of the Game by scoring nine of his 15 points in the pivotal fourth quarter.
In the second game, Ginebra trounced Alaska, 97-90, to gain an automatic quarterfinal seat.
Junthy Valenzuela scored 18 points for the Gin Kings, who will join Magnolia and Coca-Cola in the quarterfinal round.
Alaska, on the other hand, dropped to the wildcard round, where it will join Sta. Lucia, Purefoods and Talk 'N Text. The Aces will first face the Realtors while the Giants take on the Phone Pals.
