The father-daughter combination of Aniano Gabasa and hotshot jungolfer Irina Gabasa snatched the lead in the leaderboard following their incredible performance in the second day of competition in the 11th View Invitational Golf Tournament yesterday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo.
The Gabasas shot identical rounds of 42 points apiece to log in a total net of 84 points, which was enough to overtake first-day leaders Rolando Alberto and Hospicio Razon.
Alberto and Razon were relegated to second place with their score of 80. Their similar scores of 42 also proved to be the day's highest score.
Also dropping one spot down was the duo of Alfredo Tan and Junnie Cimafranca, whose first day score of 80 held up for third place. However, breathing down their necks was the pair of former professional player Carl Almario and Fernando Mondares, who were a point behind with 79 points.
Almario had the day's second best score of 41 while Mondares had 38.
The tandem of Jufil Sato and Hubert Calan was bumped to fifth place after finishing in third after the first day.
Three more pairs who had their first rounds yesterday took residence in sixth to ninth places. These were the duos of Alex Garcia and Michael Mendoza (790, Hansel Ong and Elpedio Ong (79), Eduardo Manzano and Vic Ramos (78) and Eduardo Alegrado and Clifford Celdran (77). Rounding out the top 10 was the pair of Loloy Sabuga and Efren Palugod (76), who dropped all the way to 10th from 4th place.
