Cebuano tennis princess Sally Mae Siso is indeed currently one of the country’s brightest athletes.
Siso’s fame has earned her a seat to the ATF Asian Championships slated March 16 to 30 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA)-Manila has reportedly awarded Siso a slot to the event, which will also feature netters from India, China, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and Thailand.
"Na surprise jud mi sa balita kay nagpili raman sila og mga players. Wala man sila naghimu og qualifying event," said Sally Siso, mother of Sally Mae in a phone interview.
Siso is the lone Cebuano chosen to represent the country in the girls’ 14 and under class.
Siso, ranked no. 2 in the girls’ 14-U class, will be with Shanine Olivares (no. 1) and Macey Gonzales (no. 3) in the team competition.
It will be the first time that Siso will be playing in Indonesia.
"First time pa niya moduwa sa Indonesia mao excited kaayo siya," Sally Siso said.
