NAKHON RATCHASIMA--The last Philippine pair in beach volleyball at the 24th Southeast Asian Games here took the exit on Friday after Parley Tupaz and Rhovyl Verayo absorbed a 17-21, 19-21 loss against the Indonesian tandem of Andy Ardiyansah and Koko Darkunkoro.

Tupas-Verayo won its quarterfinal match without yielding a point, but the team could not get a good break against the Indonessians at His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary beach volley court.

Their exit followed that of the Michelle Laborte-Michella Carolino and Heidi Ilustre-Diane Pascua pair in the women's quarterfinals on Friday.

In taekwondo, the Philippines failed to score a followup to Tshomlee Go's taekwondo gold when Lorraine Lorelei Catalan bowed to Malaysia's Elaine Shue Fhern Teo, 3-2, in the women's 51-kilogram final.

Catalan came off easy victories but ran into a crafty foe in the finals, leaving Go as the sport's only gold medalist for the Philippines.

In judo, Tomohiko Hoshina settled for the silver after losing to home bet Tharalat Sutthiphun in the +100 kg final at the RMUTI gymnasium.

That left the sport with only one gold through John Baylon, a silver and seven bronze medals.

Baylon, the enduring 43-year-old bachelor who remained undefeated in the Games since 1991. He won by an ipon victory over Johanes Taslim of Indonesia in 3:25 of their 81 kg final.
