CEBU CITY, Philippines - Top tennis enthusiasts from Cebu gather on Tuesday for the start of the Cebu Commercial Tennis Club Invitational Tennis Tournament at the Baseline courts.
The three-day qualifying round starts today with the winners advancing to the round-of-16 on November 10 at the same venue.
Around 200 netters will compete in the said tournament, which will have levels A, B and C doubles competition.
Tournament chairman Richie Bacalso said the tournament aims to scout talents from Cebu and at the same time help improve camaraderie among some of the best local netters.
"Ari nato mahibaw-an kung kinsa ang labing maayo moduwa sa tibuok Cebu," said Bacalso during the event's launching at the Baseline Restaurant last Saturday.
A total of 21 clubs confirmed their participation led by the hosts, Cebu Commercial Tennis Club.
Other participating clubs are Naga Tennis Club, Opon Tennis Club, Mandaue Tennis Club, La Paloma, Tuburan Tennis Club, Aga-Gising Tennis Club, Suson Tennis Club, Philippine Health Office, V & G Tennis Club, Mambaling Tennis Club, BIR Tennis Club, Lilo-an Tennis Club, Compostela Tennis Club, Cecile Tennis Club, ALO, Talisay Tennis Club, Pardo Tennis Club, James Town Tennis Club, Southern Island Tennis Club and Veco Tennis Club.
