CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday shrugged off the move of the City Council to slash the budget for some of his projects so the city can fund the P24 million needed to pay for the 15 buses given to city barangays in April.
?Kana siya nga matter we've discussed it before, papirmahan nga budget ni Daluz (Councilor Jose Daluz III), but I'm looking for the documents kay, ako man mopirma, payments man na, pareha ba if I will sign, definitely mangita jud ko if naa ba purchased order, disbursement, and others,? Rama told CEBU DAILY NEWS.
Daluz, chair of the Committee on Budget and Finance, said all the documents needed for the payments of the buses are already completed.
He said he had presented them to the mayor a week before the budget hearing, but was asked to let City Administrator Jose Mari Poblete review the documents.
?The fact that the buses are already delivered. It means that documents are already completed,? Daluz said.
Rama wondered why he was not informed before the budget hearing or when he delivered the speech during the budget hearing.
Daluz said he informed Poblete and Vice Mayor Augustus Young about the matter during their Executive and Legislative Agenda (ELA) meeting last week and had expected them to relay the information to Rama.
He said he called Rama on Monday, a day before the budget hearing, but Rama did not answer his calls.
Daluz said he received a letter from the office of Councilor Augustus Pe Jr. requesting for funds for the payment of the buses.
The budget had to be cut since the city had to settle its statutory obligation since the buses had been delivered, Daluz said.
But Rama said he didn?t want to make it an issue as long as the documents needed are complete.
