THE Capitol?s invitation to two ?Viva Hot Babes? for its Women's Month celebration on March 19 still stands despite an arrest warrant issued against them by a Regional Trial Court (RTC) recently.
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said her staff told her that actress Maui Taylor confirmed her attendance in the event to be held at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Mandaue City.
?I will also invite them to Bantayan town for the Lent observation,? Garcia said.
Taylor and fellow ?Hot Babe? Jennifer Lee along with other celebrities held a bikini show on Bantayan Island hours before Easter Sunday last year.
The show irked Cebu officials who later filed a case against them and the organizers.
They were charged with violating the Provincial Women's Code along with a separate case for violations of the Revise Penal Code that prohibit ?indecent shows.?
Last Friday, Garcia said she will also invite Taylor and Lee to attend the religious activities on Bantayan Island like the annual procession, among others.
As of Friday, Lee had yet to confirm her attendance, though she did promise to attend in a visit to Garcia's office last Feb. 18.
Capitol consultant Rory Jon Sepulveda said the two actresses initially feared that they would be arrested upon coming to Cebu but they went to the governor's office nevertheless.
?After all (that happened)...still there is good in this world...that only shows they are serious that they were repentant,? Garcia said.
Lee personally apologized to the governor but was later on asked to put these apologies in writing.
Lee was joined by other respondents of the case including event organizers Eugene Elton Tio, Mercury Gumera, Roumel Salomon and Asuncion Celia Floro.
Taylor was not at the dialogue but her manager mother Annette went on her behalf.
Weeks after the apology however, an arrest warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Antonio Marigomen for the Penal Code violations.
