Shalani: Cebu’s 2.2 M votes can ‘make or break’ campaign

IN making her second visit to Cebu, Valenzuala City Councilor Shalani Soledad acknowledged that the province can ?make or break? a presidential campaign due to its population of 2.2 million voters.

?The Cebu vote is always important because voters her are intelligent voters and second because of its large population of voters. Cebu can make or break any presidential campaign,? Soledad told CEBU DAILY NEWS.

Soledad was in Cebu City yesterday to campaign for Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Sen. Benigno ?Noynoy? Aquino III.

Aquino?s girlfriend said she saw for herself the ?war of campaign colors? on the city streets which were festooned with orange or yellow posters and ribbons.

Yellow is the Aquino campaign color while orange is the brand color of Nacionalista Party (NP) standard bearer Sen. Manuel Villar.

Soledad said they don't view reports of Villar neck to neck standing with Aquino in surveys as a threat.

?Surveys will always be referred to as a guide for our campaign...but our focus is how we could better reach our countrymen so they will hear the advocacies of Senator Noynoy (Aquino),? Soledad said.

She was scheduled to speak in behalf of the senator in yesterday afternoon's conclusion of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) assembly at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).

Soledad said the LP campaign got a needed boost with the entry of the senator's youngest sister, Kris Aquino-Yap.

Soledad also said they believe in the Liberal Party (LP) Cebu chapter's efforts to campaign for the senator at the grassroots level.

She is scheduled to visit three public markets in Mactan island - one in Cordova town and two in Lapu-Lapu City today.
