Family ties are apparently strong when it comes to political endorsement for Liloan Mayor Duke Frasco.
?No son would ever want to disappoint his mother (in-law),? Frasco told CEBU DAILY NEWS.
He said he doesn't intend to upset Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, mother of his wife Cristina, with his political decisions.
Frasco refused to give a categorical answer when asked by reporters yesterday if he was indeed supporting Joseph Estrada's presidential bid.
?As of this time, I can't give a direct answer. But whatever happens, I would respect Governor Gwen Garcia, not because she is the governor but because she is my mother (in-law),? he said.
The mayor earlier declared support for Estrada even though he?s a member of Garcia's One Cebu party which is endorsing Lakas-NUCD presidentiable Gilbert Teodoro.
Ernesto Maceda, campaign manager for Estrada, said in an earlier interview that Frasco supported the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) standard bearer.
The Liloan mayor voiced his support for Estrada during the former president's visit last Thursday.
Frasco's father, former Liloan mayor Panphil Frasco, is an old friend of Estrada, who stood as sponsor in Mayor Frasco?s wedding last year.
Capitol consultant Rory Jon Sepulveda, One Cebu party spokesman, said they would require its members to support only Teodoro's candidacy. Correspondent Edison delos Angeles
