ONE of the stalwarts of a church-based election watchdog passed away yesterday afternoon.
Erminia ?Minnie? Reyes-Dosdos, 76, died due to complications brought about by cancer of the lungs.
She had been a part of the Cebu-Citizens Involvement and Maturation for People?s Empowerment and Liberation (C-Cimpel) from its initial stages.
The local church's citizen poll watchdog is the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Service's political education service arm which undertakes poll watching and voters' education.
The same group had been involved in manning polling precincts and conducting quick counts for local and national elections.
Marilu Chiongbian, C-Cimpel executive director, said that she and Dosdos had known each other even before the group was organized more than 20 years ago.
?We were friends before C-Cimpel, before the snap elections. We were both members of the St. Vincent de Paul group. We were Namfrel (National Movement for Free Elections) volunteers,? said Chiongbian.
?We have the same principles,? she added.
Dosdos, a retired nurse, together with the rest of the volunteers would give seminars on voter's education in different parts of Cebu province.
Dosdos is survived by her husband, Dr. George Dosdos and their five children.
Her remains are presently laid at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Nivel Hills, barangay Lahug, Cebu City, her daughter Teresa said. /Editorial Assistant Ma. Bernadette A. Parco and Reporter Ador Vincent S. Mayol
