OF all the problems that beset her family since her husband's collapse and hospital confinement, getting a US visa remains the biggest hurdle for 25-year-old Datches Gorres.

The wife of stricken Cebuano boxer Z ?The Dream? Gorres will arrive in Manila tomorrow prepared for an interview in the US Embassy in Tuesday.

Along with her marriage contract and visa application, she will carry news clippings of her husband's critical medical condition.

Her Manila trip is paid for by the Cebu provincial government, which earlier allocated P100,000 in assistance to the Gorres family.

?I kept newspaper clippings about Z?s condition. I'll bring them to the US Embassy so the consul will know why I have to fly to the US,? Datches told CEBU DAILY NEWS yesterday.

Z underwent brain surgery at the University Medical Center days after he collapsed in his room several minutes following his points victory over Luis Melendez of Colombia in Las Vegas, Nevada last Nov. 14.

The surgery removed a blood clot in his brain. Datches hopes to mark her 26th birthday on Dec. 3 at her husband's bedside.

She said it was painful to leave her four young children behind but that ?I?m needed more by my husband at this time.?

?I have to very strong. It's not easy to be far away from my children but I have to do this. It will be a very sad Christmas for us since this will be the first time my family will not be intact during Christmas.?

The kids will be left to the care of her parents in Mandaue City.

While in Nevada Datches will stay with Tony Martin, an American boxing trainer and friend of Antonio L Aldeguer, the man who molded Z's career.

Although Z still couldn't talk, Datches said she learned that he can now sit up.

Earlier, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Gracia and her brother, Rep. Pablo John Garcia of Cebu's third district, each gave P25,000.

The Mandaue city government pledged P100,000 in aid .Datches said she would meet Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Fr. Vic Uy on Dec. 4 to receive financial aid offered by Malacañang.
