CEBU City officials want to light up Fuente Osmeña all year round by asking businessman Michel Lhuillier to finance light-emitting diode or LED lights worth P5 million.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he wants to see Fuente Osmena light up every night starting this Christmas season with very ?special? lighting.
?If it has to undergo public bidding, the outcome might be negative. So I asked someone to spend for the lights. I asked Michel and she said, Sure,? Osmeña told reporters.
Electric bills will be shouldered by the city so the Commission on Audit (COA) will not have any problem with it, he said.
The mayor said he is hopeful that by December, Fuente Osmeña will glow with LED lighting fixtures from abroad.
?If you look at Fuente Osmeña it is a heavenly forest. But at night, you can't see anything because it?s too dark. We can?t use sodium lights because of its yellowish effect so we'll have to use LED? Osmeña said referring to people who usually pass by the area. The mayor also plans repairs for the fountain in the middle of the Fuente Osmeña area. Correspondent Fe Marie D. Dumaboc
