THE FORWARD Taguig and the Trace-Laguna Stallions will be aiming for the last ticket to the Super Leg of the 2009 Smart Liga Pilipinas Conference 3 when they clash today in the wildcard phase of the tournament at the C.P. Tinga Memorial Hall.
The two squads split their two encounters in the elimination round of the tournament but the odds are slightly tipped in Taguig's favor as they are armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.
If the Stallions emerge victorious today, the rubber match will be played tomorrow at the same venue.
The Stallions won over Taguig in their first meeting, 73-66, last Sept. 3 at the Holy Angel University Gym during the Pampanga Leg.
However, Taguig gained revenge in the next game, 77-74, in a game that booted the Stallions out of the championship game of their own Laguna Leg held at Trace College last Oct. 2.
The Stallions finished with an overall 8-8 (win-loss) card and 26 tour points, carting away the Pampanga Leg.
Taguig boasts of a better record at 10-6 and 32 points, annexing their own Taguig Leg via a four-game sweep.
Already waiting in the Super Leg which will be held here in Cebu next week are the undefeated M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños, Smart-Pampanga Buddies, Quezon Red Oilers and the defending National Champion Misamis Oriental Meteors.
