THE Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) is left with another vacancy in its north district councilor's slate after Cebu City Councilor Edwin Jagmoc decided not to run for reelection in the 2010 elections.

Jagmoc, who was reported to have an alleged extra-marital affair with a member of the Mayor's Management Team (MMT) five months ago, decided not to run for a second term as councilor.

Jagmoc and his wife later denied the allegations.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña opted not to reveal Jagmoc's reason for not seeking reelection.

CEBU DAILY NEWS tried to contact the councilor through his mobile phone but failed to reach him for clarification.

“He decided not to run. Siya ang nag-decide,” Osmeña said.

The mayor also denied allegations from the other camp that BO-PK had dumped Jagmoc from the north district councilorial slate.

“I'm not going to get into that. If he's going to run, then he should present some transparency. But if somebody doesn't like to run, he doesn't have to explain. He is entitled to his own personal reasons,” Osmeña said.

The councilor was linked to an alleged affair with an MMT member which he denied.

Jagmoc and his wife called for a press conference a few days after the issue came out and denied all the allegations. They said that there was no “affair” between him and the young lady.

The MMT member was recommended to transfer from the City Planning Office where she often worked with the councilor about solid waste management to the General Services Office (GSO). However, a few weeks later, she resigned.

The councilor lived in barangay Sambag 2 and represented the urban poor group.

“Naay daghan kaayo mga intriga dinha. (There are many intrigues there) (But) I did not junk him. No,” the mayor said.

Because of his decision the BO-PK is left with five more vacancies for the north district councilors' slate.

North district Cebu City Councilors Sylvan Jakosalem, Edgardo Labella, Christopher Alix are on their last term. Cebu City Councilor Hilario Davide III resigned from his post when he decided to become the Cebu provincial chairman of the Liberal Party.

Opposition leader Jonathan Guardo said the BO-PK decided to drop Jagmoc from the slate because they don't want to carry the “burden” with them.

Mayor Osmeña however denied the allegations.

“When did Guardo become my spokesman? I think it is very unfair that your treating him as a spokesman,” Osmeña said.

He however said that he will try to get a copy of the recent case filed by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) against businessman Jonathan Guardo and other organizers of the South East Asian Games (SEAG) in 2005 for failing to liquidate the financial assistance given by the said commission.

Both Osmeña and Guardo are eyeing the same position in 2010 as south district representatives.
