Civil society launches ‘Good vs Evil’ drive

First Posted 08:32:00 11/08/2009

A HOLY MASS and signing of pledges will mark today’s launching of a “Good versus Evil” campaign to remind voters to guard against election cheating and corrupt candidates.

The launch is scheduled 3 p.m. at the Archbishop’s Residence in D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu City.

At least 16 groups from the church, youth, non-government organizations and cause-oriented movements are joining, said executive director Tessie Fernandez of the Lihok Pilipina Foundation Inc.

“We are not backing any politicians. We will be inviting all the candidates,” Fernandez said.

She said the group will draft criteria on what candidates to vote for and what to avoid but will leave it to the public to decide for themselves who to support.

Fernandez said that through this campaign, they wish to remind candidates to tackle development agenda in their campaigns rather than attack their political opponents.Correspondent Fe Marie Dumaboc
