THE administration coalition Lakas-Kampi-CMD transferred its convention venue from Cebu to Manila and moved its schedule from its original Nov. 12 date to Nov. 19, according to one of the local members here.
Bert Emphasis, former Lakas spokesperson for Visayas, cited “logistics” as the main reason why the newly-merged party had to move the venue from Cebu to Manila.
“More than half of the delegates come from Luzon. The costs are huge,” Emphasis said.
The World Trade Center in Manila were considered as possible venue.
Another meeting is set on Nov. 12 for the Executive Committee where Deputy Speaker Pablo Garcia and 6th district Rep. Nerissa Soon-Ruiz sit as members.
The Executive Committee had endorsed Teodoro's candidacy as standard bearer.
Emphasis said that while he is Lakas Visayas spokesman, there is still no official spokesman after the two parties merged.
“The President has not appointed anybody yet. So I am just one the members of the party,” he said.
Reports earlier surfaced that the Lakas-Kampi national convention was slated in Cebu because the party was wooing Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia as Teodoro’s srunning.
Gwen had turned down the offer and would opt to seek reelection.
In the national convention, Lakas-Kampi-CMD members will converge to finalize their choice of candidates for the national posts.
It is expected that the Execom's choice on Teodoro will be carried over and a running mate will be chosen.
During his visit to Cebu last week, Teodoro said he will leave it to the party to decide who would be his running mate.”
