Radaza reduces debts, ups net worth to P11M

First Posted 08:35:00 10/25/2009

WHILE casting a moist eye on Lapu-Lapu City's congressional district, Mayor Arturo Radaza didn't neglect his personal finances as shown in his latest Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).

Based on his 2007 SALN released by the Ombudsman-Visayas last week, Radaza's net worth went up from P7,175, 150 in 2006 to P11,080,000 in 2007.

The increase was partly credited to his reduced liabilities from P2.9 million in 2006 to only P970,000 in 2007.

Radaza's 2007 SALN was submitted to the anti-graft office on April 2008 but administrative assistants who received the document failed to locate Radaza's 2007 SALN when they released the SALN of other government officials last November.

Jane Concha, anti-graft office administrative assistant, said they had to sort through the SALN of some public officials and other government offices. Radaza's 2008 SALN has yet to be located.

Based on his 2007 SALN, Radaza's total assets amounted to P12,050,000.

He owns three real properties in Lapu-Lapu City which includes a building worth P3 million, land worth P2.5 million and machineries worth P1 million.

He did not specify how and when the properties were acquired.

Radaza also declared a P2.7 million Toyota Prada, a Toyota Hi-Ace van worth P600,000, P800,000 in furniture and jewelry worth P1, 450,000.

Radaza is the proprietor of Comfortmod, which is engaged in exports in Lapu-Lapu and the stockholder of Caci, a marketing business in Lapu-Lapu City.

He declared four relatives working in government offices. They include his wife Paz, a barangay captan of Mactan, his daughter Aileen who is a barangay councilor of Mactan; and Radaza's sisters Ida Rago and Amy Jessup who are working at the Commission on Tourism of Lapu-Lapu City.Radaza is running for Lapu-Lapu City's new congressional seat with his wife hoping to succeed him as mayor.Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
