NEARLY a week after blaming partisan politics for the closure of his water provider business, former barangay captain Cesario Silawan Sr. is singing a different tune.
He said after a family meeting last week, he admitted to making the mistake of not securing a business permit from the Lapu-Lapu City Hall.
He also said their family will support the Radazas in next year's elections.
?I made the mistake, not the mayor. He was only implementing the law. I am now applying for the business permit,? Silawan said in Cebuano.
In an interview, Silawan told CEBU DAILY NEWS that he has no ill feelings towards Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza.
He even blamed opposition groups for sowing intrigues so he would be convinced to join their ranks.
Silawan said opposition Councilor Junard Chan and Interior and Local Governments Secretary Lito Ruiz visited his house to seek his support.
But he said it was only Mayor Radaza who held a pulong-pulong or gathering in his house.
He denied changing his stance in order to stop the demolition of the water tank he owned.
Silawan said his family supported Mayor Radaza in his bid for the city's congressional district and his wife Paz Radaza for the mayoralty seat.
When local media interviewed him last week, Silawan blamed politics behind the closure of his business.
Sought for comment, Councilor Chan said he understood Silawan's change of heart since it affected his family's livelihood.
?I hope the mayor won't demolish the water tank owned by Silawan,? Chan said in a separate interview.
