CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña will file another 30-day leave starting today while the police investigation of the incident involving his son, Miguel is still ongoing.
Cebu City Police Chief Patrocinio Comendador Jr. said the results of the investigation would be released today.
The results would show whether or not there was evidence that would prove that Miguel was the one who sent threatening text messages to and shot the camera of Samantha Benitez, a friend of his girlfriend, Bea Villegas.
In a text message, Osmeña told CEBU DAILY NEWS that he would go on leave for 30 days.
The mayor's 15-day sick leave ended yesterday but he wanted to extend it until November.
Cebu City Administrator Francisco Fernandez said the mayor had not filed a formal leave of absence.
Osmeña was in Zamboanga City to attend to a personal matter. He would head to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental to visit his ailing mother.
He said he didn?t want to give an impression that he was influencing the police investigation on the incident involving his son.
Miguel allegedly got angry at Benitez for leaving Villegas, who passed out after a drinking binge at a resto bar near her school.
Benitez?s mother, Sandra Smits could not be reached for comment.
Meanwhile, a task force was created to monitor and inspect the different beer houses, resto bars, karaoke and similar establishments selling liquor to minors below 21 years old.
Fernandez said the city government would not hesitate to close any establishment selling liquor to minors whether they are within or outside the 100-meter radius from school or church.
Fernandez also called on the police to actively monitor the establishments selling liquor if there are minors inside especially students.
Fernandez refused to comment on the business permit application of Bakak Resto Bar and the appeal of its owner, Richard Aznar to amend the liquor ordinance.
