DAYS after he was arrested for his latest infraction, Joavan Fernandez was freed on P300,000 bail.
He posted bail with the Regional Trial Court (RTC) and a Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) in Lapu-Lapu City.
The controversial adopted son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez was joined by three of four companions who were released from the detention cell at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) after posting P240,000 in bail.
Last Sunday afternoon, Joavan was visited by his father who held a Bible-reading session before leaving the cell. The mayor declined to talk to media.
Joavan left the CIDG-7 cell with his wife and also declined to talk to reporters.
Bail was paid in the amount oP240,000 to the RTC on charges of possession of illegal drugs and related paraphernalia while P60,000 bail was posted for illegal possession of firearms with the MTCC.
Joavan's companions, 33-year-old Quazar Bacaltos Quiachon, 28-year-old Mark Ryan Vega Alcover and 46-year-old Wilfredo Abellana Vega posted P240,000 in bail on illegal drug possession charges.
RTC Judge Gilbert Moises of Branch 18 in Cebu City signed the release orders of the three men, said PO1 Sergio Maceren of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG).
Only Alinor Mamao Andingan remained in jail since he also has pending drug charges.
Joavan Fernandez, 26, a resident of barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, had just posted bail in the amount of P200,000 last June 18 on charges of serious illegal detention and physical injury.
He was arrested by police while driving his father?s sport utility vehicle with siren and lights flashing with the vehicle going against the direction of traffic along the national highway in Lapu-Lapu City last Tuesday.
He said he was on his way to fetch his father at the airport.
While Joavan didn't resist arrest, a police search in Joavan's vehicle yielded a revolver and three packs of shabu.
