JOAVAN Fernandez, the controversial adopted son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, is set to post bail next week in a Lapu-Lapu City court.
Joavan's wife, who asked not to be identified, said Joavan and his four co-accused decided to cancel their 15-day waiver of detention and would post bail once their case would be elevated to the court in Lapu-Lapu City.
The five accused availed of the 15-day waiver of detention when charges were filed at the Lapu-Lapu City prosecutor's office on Wednesday. They, however, changed their mind and decided to cancel the waiver.
Joavan's wife said that they were working to make the posting of bail happen on Friday but the assigned prosecutor was not around and so they planned to finish it next week.
?We worked to make the posting of bail possible on Friday but since no one could sign the documents because the prosecutor was in Bohol, and so maybe on Monday,? she said.
Joavan is facing four charges including illegal possession of firearms and drugs.
When sought for comment, Mayor Fernandez said his lawyer George Bragat asked him not to issue any statement about the issue.
