CEBU City Hall workers can look forward to a salary increase next year after Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña included it among the priorities in the 2010 budget.
The mayor said about P98 million will be allocated for the salary increase of all regular and casual employees of the Cebu City government effective on Jan. 1.
He also said the city will also prioritize health services in barangay health centers next year.
Osmeña earlier issued an order devolving out patient services in the barangay health centers to reduce the number of people serviced in the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
According to the mayor, the city will implement a scheme by Cebu City North District Rep. Raul Del Mar giving direct medical assistance to the people.
?Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Eugenio Faelnar will take the lead to study the system of Raul Del Mar and spearhead the distribution of medicines,? Osmeña said.
The mayor said the city can initially set aside P25 million for the medicine purchase.
A pharmacy will also be set up for indigent Cebu City residents to avail of free medicines.
However, Osmeña said these patients must have a recommendation from the doctors accredited by the Cebu City government.
?We will buy medicines, and get a lot of donation. There should be a control in the distribution (of medicines),? the mayor said.
A team led by Basak-Pardo Barangay Captain Dave Tumulak will head to Tagbilaran City in Bohol to study how the program is being implemented there. /Reporter Marian Z. Codilla
