AN opposition official called on motorists with complaints against the city's towing services to join the filing of a damage suit against the Cebu City government.

Tinago barangay councilor Joel Garganera said the damage suit against Mayor Tomas Osmeña, Vice Mayor Michael Rama, the city council, One Stop Towing Services and Road Warriors Towing Co. will be filed anytime this month.

Garganera extended the invitation amid reports that privilege car stickers were being issued to selected motorists like officials and high profile personalities to exempt them from apprehension.

One sticker, slightly bigger than an ID card, with the name of One Stop Towing Services was given to a radio-TV anchor person but he declined to put it on his car.

Arnel Tancinco, chief of the City Traffic Operations and Management (Citom), said he received earlier reports about this.

Efren Navales, operation's manager of One Stop, laughed when asked about the sticker. Then he said he still had to verify whether this was really being issued by their office.

?We still have to verify it,? said Navales, a guest in yesterday's ?Dialogue on the Air? program of dyS hosted by Lloyd Suarez.

Garganera said he himself saw the sticker on several cars running in the city.

?I'm still gathering all the documents needed for the case,? Garganera told CEBU DAILY NEWS.

The two towing companies, he said, never entered into a bidding called by the city government and only continued to operate due to the provisional authority given by the mayor.

?The towing operations in the city are highly irregular. How could we expect these two companies to enforce the laws when they do not obey the law? The city council should straighten up the mayor,? said Garganera, a known Osmeña critic.
