ONLY three out of 10 crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding criminals in Cebu City involved shootings, the city police office disclosed yesterday.
According to Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, Cebu City police chief, about 10 of these cases are robberies.
Most of these incidents occur in barangays Mambaling, Punta Princesa, Talamban and Apas, he said.
Two of these shootings resulted in the death of assistant city prosecutor Patrick Ian Osorio along Maria Gotchan Street, barangay Mambaling and businesswoman Allain Jore inside her convenience store along Gorordo Avenue, barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City.
Two suspects in the Osorio murder identified as Allan Sinogat and Lyndon Horandoy face murder charges.
Sinogat, a tanod in barangay Maghaway, Talisay City, is now detained at city jail while Horandoy remains at large.
Felomino Amistad, a retired Army soldier, was arrested and detained at the Cebu City Jail for Jorre's murder.
Most of the perpetrators wore full face helmets, making identification difficult for police, Comendador said.
Comendador credited the resolution of the cases to Task Force Motorcycle created by the Police Regional Office (PRO) last year to resolve the spate of crimes committed by motorcycle-riding criminals.
The task force is composed mostly of anti-crime volunteers who fall under the supervision of the Cebu City Police Office's Theft and Robbery Section (TRS). /Correspondent Chito Aragon
