Mandaue City and two more business establishments have pledged their support for the worldwide observance of the Earth Hour tomorrow.
Lights will be switched off from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday in offices of Mandaue City Hall, Cebu Holdings Inc. (CHI) and AboitizLand.
Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes will lead government employees in the switching off ceremonies at 8:30 p.m.
Lights will go off in the Mandaue City Plaza, highways and business establishments in solidarity with citizens and advocates around the world to show concern for the effects of global warming and the need to conserve energy resources.
While Mandaue City Hall goes dark, a video documentary will be shown in the plaza on a wide screen projector.
Mandaue?s 27 barangays were encouraged to to join the Earth Hour while the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry pledged its support to the activity, according to Louella Cabañero, chief of staff at the Mayor's Office.
The CHI and its managed properties? Cebu Business Park, Asiatown IT Park, Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Life FGU Center, Park Towers 1 and 2 and the Cebu Holdings Center? will also switch off non-essential lights and selected equipment for one hour.
CHI has prepared activities such as setting up two voting terminals at the Ayala Center Cebu's The Terraces for the VOTE EARTH activity and a graffiti wall where shoppers can sign their support.
AboitizLand said it will have its residential, commercial, industrial and workplace communities go dark in support for Earth Hour.
One of the main venues for Earth Hour Cebu is AboitizLand's Mactan Economic Zone II.
