THE HEAD of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in Cebu City said he will not object to the plan of the Cebu provincial government to install a camera fronting the IBP building.
It is not as if the IBP has a choice, since its building is within the Capitol compound, said Briccio Joseph Boholst, president of IBP-Cebu City.
?At this point, I see no objection to that,? Boholst said. ?If they really want to put a security camera in front of the IBP building, I have no problem with it.?
However, some lawyers might protest against the Capitol?s plan because it implies illegal acts on the part of the IBP members, Boholst said.
Boholst said he was curious about the allegations raised by the Capitol that the canteen on the first floor of he IBP building was being used as a drinking and karaoke joint at night, as well as a place where male lawyers hook up with women.
He said he never heard of such reports before.
Boholst said he wanted to know if the allegations were true.
One lawyer was reportedly named in the allegations.
Boholst, however, said he knew that the lawyer would not meet just any woman at the canteen.
?I know this person to be upright. He meets his wife, who just waits in a corner,? Boholst said.
?Another name that has been mentioned is that of another lawyer, but he is seldom seen here,? he added.
?I?m confused. Nevertheless, I?m interested in knowing if there are things going on because as far as I know, those accusations never happened,? Boholst said.
Earlier, Capitol security consultant Byron Garcia said cameras would be installed facing the IBP building?s front entrance after reports surfaced of questionable activities being conducted there.
