WITH Christmas fast approaching, Lapu-Lapu City residents were told to keep an eye out for thieves who prowl in every corner waiting for citizens to let their guard down.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Mariano Natu-el said public vigilance is essential since the police expects crimes to go up with the start of the “ber” months leading up to Christmas.
Natu-el said criminals expect money to flow during the holiday season so their targets are workers who receive their Christmas bonuses and shop for bargains.
“People are very busy nga manguwarta(to get money),” the Lapu-Lapu city official said.
He said the Lapu-Lapu City police will conduct regular patrols while tanods will be asked to monitor their barangays.
Natu-el also advised the public to place double locks in their homes and keep them well-lighted especially when going out.
Lapu-Lapu City residents were also urged not to carry a large amount of cash and jewelry and to avoid using cell phones in public places. Correspondent Ador Vincent MayolM
