Fire razed at least 13 houses in sitio Cabantan, barrio Luz, Cebu City at 7 p.m. yesterday.
Based on the initial investigation by the Cebu City Fire Department, the fire started at the house of a certain Flor and spread to adjacent houses. No one was reported injured.
Cebu City firefighters responded to the emergency call at 7:30 p.m and the fire was put out 45 minutes later.
Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Alikahsem Espenola said witnesses told them the fire came from the second floor of the house owned by Flor. They have yet to confirm whether electrical damage was the cause of the fire.
But SFO4 Felix Romero in a radio interview said the house was owned by Florentina Ilyun, 65.
Romero also said that Ilyun was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center after suffering burns on her legs and head.
Espenola, however, refused to confirm radio reports of the fire saying he had to see anybody before confirming the report.
Cost of damages have yet to be reported as of press time. Cebu City social workers were on hand to assist the victims. With a report from Correspondent Justin A.K. Vestil
