CEBU and the rest of the Visayas will still experience scattered rains and thunderstorms as a low pressure area developed into tropical depression ?Gener.?
As of 11:30 a.m. yesterday, Gener was spotted 350 km west northwest of Coron, Palawan, said Vangie Tolentino, weather specialist 1 of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Mactan.
?Gener is embedded in the intertropical convergence zone and is affecting weather conditions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,? Tolentino said.
Tolentino said winds and coastal waters in Cebu will be slight to moderate. Sea travel from Cebu to Manila and other points such as Ormoc City in Leyte is still safe, she said.
?Like other days this week, tomorrow (Saturday) will still be cloudy. Rains will continue and coastal waters will be moderate to rough during thunderstorms,? she said.
But Tolentino said that Cebu is expected to have sunny weather from July 6 to 8.
Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Palawan which may trigger landslides and flashfloods.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Western Visayas and Palawan with moderate to rough seas. REPORTER CRIS EVERT B. LATO
