Close to 200 people are expected to join today's Suroy Suroy sa Sugbu, the ?Enchanting Camotes? adventure.
Mona Clarita Zosa, provincial executive officer II who is also in charge of the preparations, said the 144 paying guests consisting of balikbayans, local and foreign tourists have registered for the two-day affair.
Each tourist paid P4,550 to P5,700 for their transportation, accommodation and food.
The listed guests, however, still do not include guests that Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia have invited to the fourth suroy suroy in Camotes Island.
?The Suroy Suroy in Camotes is more of a leisure trip. Our guests join to enjoy the beaches. They look forward to the beaches,? Zosa said.
Zosa said that since the provincial government organized the enchanting Camotes adventure, hotel and resort occupancy rate in the island has improved.
?The only problem is that the arrival of guests is seasonal,? she said in Cebuano.
Guests normally come to Camotes Island, off the northern tip of Cebu during the summer months.
Zosa said huge waves during the rainy season make it unsafe for seacraft to travel to the island.
Participants will leave Cebu City at 6:30 on board a fast craft that would bring them to the municipality of Poro in Camotes Island.
From Poro, the group will proceed to Tudela to visit the Bukilat Cave then to the Buho Resort. They will also visit Lake Danao in the municipality of San Francisco and the Mangodlong Resort in Santiago Bay.
On Sunday, the tourism caravan will have a stop in Pilar town before returning to Cebu City.
