CEBU CITY, Philippines - The Cebu City government's Anti-Dengue Task Force will conduct spraying operations today in barangay Inayawan, which now has the highest number of dengue cases in the city.

Health inpsectors will spray chemicals on suspected breeding grounds of mosquitoes.

Inayawan had 29 dengue cases with one death from January 1 to March 2 this year.

(Getrudes Cabusas , barangay health worker , told CDN a second death was reported the other day. The victim was a child.)

Barangay Talamban, which topped the number of dengue cases for the past weeks, placed second this week with also 29 cases and two deaths.

Barangay Guadalupe was 3rd with 27 cases and two deaths, Labangon had 24 cases, Tisa with 23 cases and one death; Mabolo had 19 cases.

Barangay health workers keep reminding residents to dispose of water or liquids from empty containers but only few heed their reminders.

Councilor Gerry Carillo told CDN that he already drafted an ordinance adopting the resolution of bBarangay Labangon that would impose a P500 fine on residents who fail to clean up their surroundings , including the disposal of stagnant water .

Carillo said he still has to fine-tune the proposed ordinance before submitting it to the City Council. /Correspondents Chris A. Ligan, Jhunnex Napallacan and Editorial Assistant Bernadette A. Parco
