SOME traffic enforcers assigned at Gov. Cuenco Avenue have abandoned their posts, prompting Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) to investigate.

Arnel Tancinco, Citom executive director, said six traffic enforcers were ordered to explain why they left their posts.

Tancinco said at least three enforcers left their posts in the first weekend of the construction of the flyover. This week, three more enforcers abandoned their posts.

Tancinco said these enforcers either went home at certain hours of the day or retired somewhere to rest or to sleep.

A total of 81 enforcers with 15 relievers and four traffic supervisors have been assigned at Gov. Cuenco Avenue since Feb. 1, the start of the construction.

But since the contractor has yet to move their equipment to the site, volume of traffic has been minimal.

Tancinco said traffic enforcers who fail to explain satisfactorily why they abandoned their posts would either be sanctioned or suspended.

But contractors will start using backhoes, dump trucks and pay loaders in the area by Monday, said Tancinco. The heavy equipment is expected to obstruct traffic in the area.

Tancinco urged motorists to find other routes to their destinations on Monday. Correspondentt Jhunnex Napallacan
