Detained policeman SPO1 Adonis Dumpit is not giving up in his bid to gain temporary liberty, especially with Christmas next week.
After being denied twice by the judge, Dumpit once again filed a motion for bail on the murder charge he is facing. The motion was filed Friday before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Branch 6.
Dumpit cited inconsistencies in the statements of the witnesses presented by the prosecution.
Dumpit, who has been jailed since his surrender last February, is on trial for the fatal shooting of robbery suspect Ronron Go in barangay Villagonzalo, Cebu City six years ago.
Dumpit insists that a shootout took place and that he was forced to fire back in self defense.
Last August, RTC Judge Ester Veloso rejected Dumpit's second motion for bail, saying the policeman failed to present new arguments to change her earlier decision.
