IN the wake of incidents involving gang violence, a task force was set up by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) to run after gang members with pending arrest warrants.
Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr., CCPO director, said the team would focus on barangays with the most number of gang-related criminal activities. These barangays are Carreta, Tejero, T. Padilla, Lorega, Guadalupe, Pardo, Inayawan, Sambag Uno and Dos.
Comendador also ordered the police precinct chiefs to coordinate with barangay officials for a dialogue with the parents of the errant youths. He said these parents should discourage their kids from joining gangs and avoid staying out late at night to avoid being victimized.
Last week, at least three teenagers were killed in a shooting incident involving members of the warring Bloods and Crips gangs.
Comendador said he believed that gang members previously involved in such cases were also involved in last week shooting./Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
