A policeman shot and wounded a man who allegedly tried to stab him in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City on Thursday night.
PO2 Dennis Labra of Guadalupe police shot Jonros Cuizon, whom police suspected of stealing some materials from a construction firm.
Police said a sack containing various items owned by a construction firm was found in the possession of Cuizon, 18.
Police said Labra was conducting foot patrol about 10 p.m. when he spotted Cuizon going out from the premises of Philconstar along Andres Abellana Street.
Police said Labra approached Cuizon and introduced himself but the young man allegedly tried to attack the policeman with a knife.
Labra was able to evade the attack, pulled out his 9 mm caliber service pistol and shot the young man in the right thigh.
Cuizon was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
Found in the sack were a pipe worth P10,000, two Nokia cellular phones worth P12,000 each, four strainer worth P600, can of paints and other construction materials which were allegedly taken from Philconstar.
Police said the construction firm was ready to file charges against Cuizon.
