THE brother of a city councilor in Talisay, southern Cebu was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Carcar City at dawn yesterday.
Police said 25 grams of suspected shabu worth P150,000 was seized from Hermigildo Baclay.
Baclay is the younger brother of Talisay City Councilor Aaron ?Ronnie? Capala who is running for reelection this May.
A police asset had ordered P150,000 worth of shabu from Baclay before the raid, said Insp. Glenn Hife, who led the raiding team composed of operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (RAIDSOTF).
Hermegildo denied any involvement in illegal drugs. He said he owns a cockpit in Talisay and runs a fishing business for a living.
Hife said that based on police intelligence, Hermigildo can dispose of a kilo of shabu per week and is on the ?order of battle? or police list of wanted persons.
Hife said police have been hunting him down since 2005.
Hife said the suspect owns houses in Daluguete, Minglanilla, Carcar and Talisay, which Hermigildo denied.
Aaron also denied that his younger brother was involved in illegal drugs.
He said his brother has been staying in Negros to take care of their fighting cocks.
Aaron confirmed that his brother was arrested before on charges of illegal gambling and selling of marijuana.
