A MAN stabbed dead his friend after they argued over how to split their winnings from a cockfight in barangay Tugbungan, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.
Police are hunting down Ariel Puso, 31, who fled after he allegedly stabbed Sunday Isoto, 31 on Monday night.
Police said both men had attended a cockfight in Mandaue City and combined their money to place bets.
They decided to leave past 7 p.m. and divide their winnings.
An argument broke out when Puso complained that Isoto did not give him his correct share of the winnings, said SPO2 Arnold Omania of Consolacion police.
During the quarrel, Puso took a knife and allegedly stabbed Isoto several times, said police.
Isoto suffered stab wounds in the breast, abdomen, right hand and in the leg.
He died moments later after he was brought to the Eversley Hospital in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City.
A follow-up operation to arrest the suspect is in progress, said police.
