Two teenagers, including a 14-year-old girl, were killed and a third was wounded in a shooting incident involving warring youth gangs in barangay Tejero, Cebu City early morning yesterday.
Kenneth Veloso, 18, was declared dead when he and a 14-year-old girl were brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC). The girl died while being treated.
Veloso was hit in the head while the girl sustained a gunshot wound in the shoulders and back.
Their companion, Jeffrey Villomo, was wounded in the forearm and was confined at CCMC.
Police said Veloso and Villomo were members of the Bloods gang.
The suspect in the shooting, Jordan Alueta, 18, was a member of the Crips gang, said police.
According to the police, the victims were sitting by the roadside in sitio Sampaguita when Alueta arrived and shot them several times.
Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr., chief of the CCPO, said the killing was a result of the two gangs' rivalry.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he would give cash rewards to those who can give information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Because of the recent incident, Osmeña said he will meet with the Cebu City police to discuss the matter.
?The methodology is that we don't run after gangs. We run after the individuals. But if the police can identify who the suspects are, enough to justify a warrant of arrest then we will put a reward, P50,000 each against individuals not against the gang,? he said.
