POLICE arrested four men and one minor after a robbery attempt on a couple who were strolling along the Muelle Osmena wharf about 9 p.m. in Lapu-Lapu City last Sunday.
The victims, Franklin Reyes, 25, and his girlfriend Maria Liezel Tampus, 20, were walking along the wharf when they were held up at knifepoint, said homicide investigator SPO4 Rex Ibañez.
Reyes, who ran to the end of the wharf, was chased by one of the men who stabbed him in the neck and stomach.
The two men fell into the sea during the struggle.
The woman was able to cry for help, alerting barangay tanods who rescued Reyes in the water and his assailant.
Police arrested Rexan Cadavero, 21, who later named his corhorts who had escaped.
In a followup operation, police were able to arrest Badgie Luchavez, 20, Russel Flores, 23, Francis Clavio, 19, and one minor.
The wounded Reyes was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Center for treatment of his injuries.
