A MAN was killed while six others were injured when an Elf truck plowed into three tricycles parked along a highway in barangay Luray II, Toledo City, western Cebu on Saturday morning.
Jeniper Abella, 36, a tricycle driver was killed in the accident. Two other tricycle drivers, Elino Lopez and Nicolas Lasponya, and passengers Gomercinda Pansacala, 50; Mary Grace Obanos, 10; Rowena Crisostomo, 29; and Cristine de Vera, 25, were injured during the incident.
They were brought to the Toledo District Hospital but Abella did not reach the hospital alive, said police.
The driver of the Elf truck with plate number GMC 924, Desiderio Hibrade, 34, of barangay Tayud, Consolacion, north Cebu, surrendered to the police after the incident.
The driver told police that the truck's steering wheel malfunctioned causing the accident.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, damage to property and multiple physical injuries will be filed against the driver. CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
