A mayoral candidate in Mandaue City is accusing the camp of rival Rep. Nerissa Soon-Ruiz of Cebu?s 6th district of harassment.
Eugenio Ruiz, who is running for mayor against Soon-Ruiz and Mayor Jonas Cortes, complained to the Mandaue City police that the congresswoman?s chief of staff ?harassed? his family.
According to a police blotter, Ruiz claimed that lawyer Gonzalo Malig-on and his two male companions barged into his house in barangay Centro about 6:55 p.m. on Saturday and took pictures of the house and his family.
Ruiz said he was in a volleyball practice when Malig-on went to his house.
The lawyer, he added, took videos and photos of the house when Ruiz? wife opened the door for him.
Malig-on denied the allegations.
He said he went to Ruiz? home to personally hand over a copy of the disqualification case filed by Soon-Ruiz against him for allegedly being a nuisance candidate.
?I know him personally, because I used to live there in barangay Centro,? Maligon told CEBU DAILY NEWS.
Malig-on said that the videos and photos were for documentation because Ruiz might deny that he received a copy of the petition.
Malig-on said he didn't enter the house but merely stood outside the outside.
Ruiz said that Malig-on went back to their house on Sunday, to talk to him and hand over a copy of the petition attached with pictures taken the previous day.
He said Malig-on apoligized to him.
