Security Guard shoots passerby

First Posted 07:53:00 12/08/2009

A MAN was allegedly shot by a security guard in barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City, around 3 a.m. on Monday.

SPO1 Federick Eslit, investigator of Lapu-Lapu City Crime Against Person Desk, said the victim Mark Baring, 28, a resident of Looc, was walking with his girlfriend Gretchen Obenida.

When they passed by Keppel Shipyard, Baring was allegedly shot by its security guard armed with a shotgun.

The victim suffered bullet wounds in his back and left upper forearm. He was rushed by his girlfriend to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but was transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Eslit said they had yet to establish the motive of the incident. Eslit said there was a personal grudge between the victim and suspect.

SPO1 Honorato Inihao of Police Station 3 said the security guard on duty at the time of incident was Jaime Dinawanao.

He was issued with a 12-gauge shotgun and was connected with Archangel Detective and Security Agency.

During an inspection conducted by Benito Magallanes, supervisor of the security agency, Dinawanao abandoned his post and did not log out when he left the shipyard.

Eslit said Ginawanao would be considered a suspect because he left his post without informing his superior.
