An eatery owner was shot dead by his two customers, a few meters from a police station in barangay Parian, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Ruel Yap, 36, of sitio Guadalajara, barangay Guadalupe, suffered bullet wounds in the head and body. He died on the way to the Chong Hua Hospital.

Based on police investigation, two motorcycle-riding men arrived at the eatery about 9 a.m.

The two men, who wore jackets, denim pants and believed to be in their 30s, ordered from the victim's mother and ate.

After eating, the two men gave P500 to the victims' mother Winena, 63.

The mother then asked Ruel to have the P500 change.

Minutes later, Ruel came back and gave the money to his mother.

The mother then handed the change to the two customers.

But after accepting the money, one of the two men pulled out a handgun and shot Ruel repeatedly.

The culprits then boarded a motorcycle parked outside the eatery and fled toward D. Jakosalem Street in barangay Kamagayan.

The victim?s mother Winena and his wife Agnes told police that they were not aware if the victim had an enemy or was recently involved in a fight.

Winena added that her son did not argue with the two men prior to the shooting.

Police would conduct investigation to identify the culprits and determine the motive of the attack, said SPO3 Rey Cuyos, investigator of the Crime Against Persons Desk of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
