Two travelers from Metro Manila reported to the police the loss of a laptop and watch allegedly taken from their room in an uptown hotel in Cebu City where they stayed.

Ryan Charles Carvajal Reyes, 36, of Pasig City, Metro Manila, complained that the items were missing from their room and that the door was damaged to gain etnry to the room in the Century Plaza Hotel on General Maxilom Avenue.

Reyes, who introduced himself as a businessman, said he already brought up the theft to the hotel's management but wasn?t satisfied with their response.

When CEBU DAILY NEWS tried to get the side of the hotel a female staffer referred the inquiry to Bobit Avila, whose clan owns the hotel. Avila, who texted from Dubai, said he wasn?t informed of the case yet so couldn?t comment.

When Reyes reported the incident to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), he played a video he took of the door of his room to show it could be easily opened with the use of a plastic card inserted in between the door jamb.

Reyes said he and his friend August Gabriel Castillo, 22, arrived in Cebu City last Saturday for a speaking engagement and checked in the hotel.

He said they left the hotel on Sunday morning and returned past 5 a.m. the next day.

They discovered that his Mac laptop in the room was gone, along with Castillo?s wristwatch and bottle of cologne. The laptop was valued at over P100,000.

Reyes said they reported the incident to the management about 6 a.m. but did not receive feedback until 9 a.m.

Reyes said investigators from the hotel?s security agency arrived to look into the matter, but not the police.

Senior Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes, chief of Theft and Robbery Section of the CCPO, said hotel personnel on duty during the incident will be interviewed as part of the police investigation.
