DESPITE the recapture of the jail escapee in Ronda town, the provincial police chief will pursue the Ronda's jailer's investigation and the plan to relieve the town police chief.
Cebu Provincial Police Chief Jesus Gaquing said yesterday that the rearrest of jail escapee Fernandez Blanco, 24, would not change his action against Ronda jailer, PO1 Benedicto Rubia, and Ronda Police Chief Januario Sario.
Gaquing said the administrative investigation against Rubia would continue and his plan to ask Ronda Mayor Esteban Sia (not Noli Blanco as earlier reported) to replace Sario as town police chief.
The provincial police director said he would submit three names of qualified police officials for the mayor to choose for the chief of police.
Rubia is also investigated for possible neglect of duty.
Blanco escaped last Friday after Rubia ordered Blanco to clean the jail and allowed him to throw garbage outside the jail. Blanco escaped. He was recaptured yesterday in barangay Lang-in, Ronda town, western Cebu.
Police said Blanco, who is facing theft charges, decided to escape after his wife went to Cebu City to find work without asking his permission.
