AN ANTI-DRUG agency official yesterday pushed for the suspension of the barangay captain in a Cebu town, who was caught allegedly using drugs.
Acting Dangerous Drugs Board Secretary Clarence Paul Oaminal said he wrote to the Department of Interior and Local Government asking that Marianito Yaun, barangay captain of Antipolo, Medellin town be suspended.
Police arrested Yaun last week in Consolacion town in northern Cebu after he was allegedly caught with drug sniffing paraphernalia.
On Nov. 17, Mandaue police said they caught Yaun and his companion, Eldie Briones, sniffing shabu inside Yaun's parked Ford Explorer in barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City.
Three unlicensed guns and ammunition were also found inside his vehicle.
Yaun who is facing illegal drug possession and illegal gun possession charges, is out after posting bail.
Oaminal said any barangay official linked to this kind of activities should be suspended or dismissed from service.
Oaminal said Yaun should be placed on preventive suspension while the investigation goes on. /Correspondent Chito O. ARagon
